Ursula

Welcome to my artistic portfolio.

My name is Ursula Goldstein (born Vanamölder) and my mission is to create emotions every day.

Following my family tradition, I am a fifth generation tailor and a first-generation scenographer. After graduating a technical high school with a strong emphasis on natural sciences, I took up studies in individual tailoring, construction and garment pattern modeling.

The Estonian Drama Theatre chose me to be their mens’ tailor after completing my tailoring studies – and I have been on that post for the past nine years. It has given me the possibility to see how the inner and external facets of theatrical characters correlate, inspiring me to find an arts discipline called scenography that I ultimately love.

When I was a child, I recall dreaming about drawing pictures as beautifully as my mother. This early influence combined with my working experience at the theatre soon led me to join the Estonian Academy of Arts to become a scenographer.

I set out to start with student projects, and was increasingly interested in the fascinating overlapping between stage and costume design. By the time I graduated my Master’s studies at the Academy of Arts, I had participated in several big projects, and the national drama theatre had recognised me to become a scenographer aside from continuing to work as a mens’ tailor. Now, after having moved to Belgium, and spent a year to obtain a Magistra Artium Cum Laude at the ARTESIS (Antwerpen Royal Academy of Fine Arts) theatre costume design major, I am proud to welcome you to a brief overview of my artistic activities.

I hope that you will find this portfolio as both informative and entertaining.

Also, I will be looking forward to hearing from you if the things you experience here spark off your imagination into new exciting creative directions!

Sincerely,

U.G.
